The Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis believes small businesses are the fabric of our communities, and strong small businesses generate more economic opportunities for everyone.
What is Elevate?
The Elevate small business grant assists the growth and development of small businesses in Indiana and Michigan. Small businesses can use the grant money (up to $20,000) for capital expenditures, workforce training, working capital, or a variety of other needs as outlined in the Elevate Program Guide. Elevate Grant Information Request
Who can apply?
- For-profit businesses headquartered in Indiana or Michigan
- Under current ownership for at least 12 months prior to October 1, 2026
- 2025 annual gross revenue of more than $20,000 and no more than $1 million
- Must apply in partnership with an FHLBank Indianapolis member
- Must meet at least one 2026 program priority
- Businesses that received an Elevate grant in 2021 or later are not eligible for the 2026 round
2026 Grant Funding:
Grants of up to $20,000 are available through participating FHLBank Indianapolis members.
Grant funds can be used for:
- Purchase or improvement of property
- Machinery, tools or equipment
- Workforce development or training
- Technology enhancements
- Inventory, materials or supplies
2026 Program Priorities
Applicants must meet at least one:
- Housing Industry Trades — Businesses supporting housing construction, renovation or maintenance
- Member Involvement — The sponsoring FHLBank member provides a matching grant of at least 10% of the requested amount
- Public Presence — Businesses operating from or establishing a non-residential commercial location
- Community Enhancement — Businesses providing training or education related to financial, occupational or personal well-being

- Application deadline: October 1, 2026
- Award announcements: October 22, 2026
- Eligible expenses must be incurred between September 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027
